U.S. MPs WWII

While this product purports to offer two MPs, only one is specifically molded as such. The soldier directing traffic wears an armband on his outstretched left arm, which you would have to paint dark blue with white "MP" lettering, or find an appropriate decal from Verlinden or Tamiya motorcycle MP kit. His shirt can be painted field drab or olive drab, and his pants can be brownish wool (I use one part field drab with two parts leather brown) or paint them OD like herring bone tweeds (HBT). He wears canvas leggings. A nice touch is the whistle and lanyard attached to his breast pocket. The head for this figure sports an M1 helmet with goggles.

The other soldier stands with his hands on his hips. He wears an M1941 jacket, and his pants can be either wool or HBT. He also wears equipment webbing and leggings. There's nothing molded onto this figure to identify him as an MP. His head has a netted helmet.

For some odd reason this set came with four holstered .45s. I guess you can rig these guys out like Wild West cowboys if you'd like! There are also two canteen and one set of binoculars.

The parts of these characters fit well, with only a bit of contour putty needed where the arms attach to the torso. The MP scales to about 6' with helmet, but the other soldier comes up to about 6'6". I trimmed an eighth of an inch off the top of the legs to bring him down a bit closer to earth.

Overall these are good stock figures to set along a roadside, guiding a convoy towards Germany or a line of shuffling panzergrenadiers off to captivity.
